Connecting Local Citizens to Their Local Fire Stations

Firefighters

WHEN YOU WALK THROUGH A FIREHOUSE YOU WALK THROUGH THE HEART OF AMERICA

Who We Are

Dedicated to being “Friends of the Fire Department and Fire Service,” The First-In Fire Foundation is committed to a well-respected tradition of connecting local citizens to their local fire stations. We friendraise and fundraise city-wide for the Fire Service and Fire Department, its firefighters, fire stations, services, and programs, including LAFD Adopt-A-Fire Station Program, Fire Safety Education, CERT, DAC, and Emergency Preparedness (including Pet Preparedness). The First-In Fire Foundation specializes in establishing local model programs and creating “Partners in Preparedness” and resilience within a fire station’s (or battalion’s) first response area.
We work in the Spirit of Cooperation with the Miracle Mile Civic Coalition, good friends of the LAFD since 2001. For over 12 years, we have actively supported our courageous firefighters who serve so well even in this unprecedented time of financial need. We promote morale-boosting, unity, and more resources for firefighters and fire service. We share enthusiasm for Miracle Mile’s highly successful Model Adopt-A-Fire Station Program at Fire Station 61/Battalion 18 (“Friends of FS 61/Battalion 18”) in Los Angeles.
This cost-effective, highly successful model focuses on encouraging a local circle of friends to form a circle of strength: A Fire Department – Community Partnership encouraging long-term relationships. This model has fostered assistance in Los Angeles to FS 27, 29, 37, 40, 52, 58, 61, 76, 77, and 94. For FS 61, our assistance has included much-needed station repairs since 2002 (painting, carpeting, kitchen appliances, training room and office furniture and exercise equipment, landscaping, storage sheds and security gates, tools, securing training seminar space, a high-rise training exercise site, and local support for 7 annual Miracle Mile Safety Summits on Emergency Preparedness and Homeland Security: “READY OR NOT! – RESILIENCE”). We support community-wide adoptions (“friends”) of fire stations and advocate “No Station Left Behind.”
Additionally, we have provided assistance to Fire Service wherever there is a need, such as to the Israel Fire Department following their devastating wildfires of 2010 and to Fairfax County, VA’s Urban Search & Rescue Team, deployed to save lives following the earthquake in Haiti in 2010.
